Winter and Holiday Decorations from Nature
by Melanie Jeffers Frassinelli

Evergreens and red flowers and berries are staples in winter and holiday flower arrangements. However, there are natural elements available within our mountains that can be used to create distinctive floral decorations.

In addition to being therapeutic, a nature walk can be the source for acorns, nuts, branches and any other objects you find appealing. Spray paint these findings gold or silver. Incorporate the pieces into floral centerpieces or encircle a hurricane glass. Various size branches can be bundled together with ribbon to adorn everything from tables to entryways.

If you hire a floral designer to arrange your centerpieces discuss these options with them and decide if you want the natural elements to carry over to the bridal party flowers.
